When I was in Malta last year I had the chance to spend a day swimming at the Blue Lagoon. The water was so clear and the snorkeling was amazing because of it. So I came home to the start of winter in Australia and wanted to bring some of the great vibes back. Outside the kitchen window at our house there was a brick wall just staring at us each morning, so I decided to paint it. At the bottom of the piece I added "Going to Gozo" in text. If I was a fish and I had a choice I would swim there.
I've always loved the elements so you'll often see earth, fire, air and water arise as an influence in my sculptural work in particular.
Starting with this piece I am experimenting with a series of elemental spirit masks. They are made with a brace on the rear so they can hang on a wall.
